2011 Past Entertainment

The Righteous Hillbillies

Main Stage on Chicago St. across from the Rialto Square Theatre
5pm-10pm between driver appearances.

The Righteous Hillbillies are an axe shredding, ace dealing, foot stompin’, Southern rock, high-powered Ameicana, boogie blues band that plays with talent and passion. They have built a strong, supportive, and loyal following throughout their hometown of Joliet, Illinois and into the Chicago area, and received three standing ovations while opening for The Charlie Daniels Band at the magnificent Rialto Square Theatre.

The Righteous Hillbillies baptize their work in the blood of Lynyrd Skynyrd, AC/DC, ZZ Top, and the Black Crowes while still managing to create an original and independent style. They make rock “n” roll music for people who still believe in rock “n” roll music. Their well crafted songs and quality of playing has earned the respect of musicians from every genre of music, while many have become an extended family of the band. Lead vocalist Brent James sings with the power to push bodies against the wall and the sensitivity to stir the souls that reside within those bodies. Guitarist, Kev Wright plays with a controlled and confrontational ferocity that is nearly catastrophic, as if the devil himself allowed guitar players in that Georgia picking competition, Charlie Daniels made famous. The Rhythm section of Barret Harvey and Johnny Gadeikis provide the steadiest of foundations to the wildness and acrobatic rock flamboyance in every show.

The Righteous Hillbillies are prepared to raise the stakes from entertainment to that old time rock and roll religion. If it doesn’t get you dancing, moving, and singing, you might as well sign your “do not resuscitate” order at the nearest opportunity.

Cadillac Casanovas

The corner of Chicago St. & Cass St.

"HAIL, HAIL, Rock & Roll!" A classic yet powerful phrase popularized by the great Chuck Berry. To many rock musicians throughout the years this slogan is still strong and meaningful. However, for the talented trio known as the Cadillac Casanovas, this is not just a slogan, but in fact a way of life. Performing a wide variety of 1950's Rock & Roll and Rockabilly, the Cadillac Casanovas pull out all of the classic tunes from the decade that dominated juke boxes around the globe while still leaving room for some of the great deep cuts that are rarely heard. From the moment they hit the stage, no one can doubt their dedication to keeping the classics as fresh and vibrant as they were when performed by the masters themselves.

All three members of the Cadillac Casanovas have been involved in the local music scene for many years and have contributed to building a following of dedicated fans eager to attend their shows. Armed with a nostalgic list of songs from some of the most well-known pioneers of the 1950's such as Chuck Berry, Johnny Cash, Elvis, Buddy Holly, Carl Perkins, Ricky Nelson, etc., the Cadillac Casanovas will captivate any crowd for hours on end.

Authentic sound, vintage look, amazing stage presence and a rendition of the national anthem that would make anyone move their feet...the Cadillac Casanovas are true guardians of ROCK & ROLL.

Chicago Farmer

Chicago Farmer

Chicago St. by Chicago St. Pub

Cody is a folk-singer’s folk-singer and a poet’s poet. He was born and bred in Delavan IL, population 25, surrounded by the endless skies of the American Midwest.  Before moving to Chicago in 2003, Cody tried his hand at sessions in Nashville and carefully hewed and tested his art in college town bars and honky-tonks around the Midwest. He now plays regularly in the city and it’s not uncommon to see whole rooms full of strangers erupt and sing along to the choruses of his songs on their first listen (I’ve seen it happen). Cody’s voice is powerful and gritty, emotionally piercing while subtly imbuing additional layers of meaning and poignancy in his lyrical delivery.  His song-writing is deeply rooted in the American Folk tradition and all of its grit but with a post Dylan sense of wit, perspicacity and that certain savior-faire. He didn’t go to college but he drank all of their beer.

Every folk-singer has to migrate to the city, in a way it seems to be hidden in definition of a folk singer anymore.  Cody has come to remind Chicago that it is in Illinois.  And to remind the rest of the world that when Louis Armstrong redefined, some say invented the art of Jazz in the 1920′s he brought his Hot Fives to Chicago to do it.  When Robert Johnson wanted to put his Mississippi Mud on wax, his hellhound chased him to Chicago to do it.  And same like, Cody has come to Chicago to deliver what it needs, when it isn’t even sure itself.  He is currently recording a collection of songs from his vast back-catalog and performing across the heartland.
