Joliet’s Race Fan Rally Sponsors Lining Up
Sponsors support event with drivers and interactive exhibits

JOLIET, Ill. – June 7, 2006Corporate support of the 2006 Joliet Race Fan Rally to be held on Thursday, July 6 in Downtown Joliet is looking as strong as ever. AAA, Chevrolet, Budweiser, the Army National Guard, Great Clips and several more companies have partnered with Downtown Joliet in support of the event.

“Race Fan Rally is and always has been a family-friendly event free of charge to the public so corporate support is a critical component to its success,” said Tom Mahalik, vice president, Joliet City Center Partnership. “Because of our outstanding sponsor support we will be able to once again offer race fans an exciting, up-close and personal motorsports experience as we kick off the NASCAR race weekend in Downtown Joliet.”

All Race Fan Rally sponsors will be staging interactive exhibits including NASCAR showcars and race simulators. Some will also be bringing famous NASCAR drivers that will meet fans and sign autographs during the event that is scheduled to take place from 5p.m. to 11p.m. on Thursday, July 6. Past drivers making appearances include Dale Earnhardt, Jr., Kasey Kahne and Karl Edwards to name a few.

NASCAR Nextel Cup star Greg Biffle will also be on hand for the third straight year representing his sponsor, the Army National Guard. Several other drivers are slated including two “mystery Chevrolet drivers.”

“Chevrolet is once again bringing their entertainment stage where our bands and radio talent from NEXT Media will perform,” added Mahalik. “But this year Chevy is also going to bring in two NEXTEL Cup drivers to appear on stage and will be heightening the excitement by announcing who the mystery drivers are on WJOL just two weeks before the event.”

Chicagoland residents should expect more exciting announcements regarding drivers and sponsors in the coming weeks. Traditionally, several companies have committed to participate in the weeks leading up to the event.
